Pusat Keuskupan Katolik (PKK)
Pusat Keusukupan Katolik (Catholic Diocesan Centre) is a huge 4-storey grey building located diagonally opposite YMCA (on your left), and before Island Hospital (on your right). The address is as follows:
290 Macalister Road
10450 Penang
-----------------------------
Standing dignified and unified in the more sedate side of Jalan Macalister, the four-storey Pusat Keuskupan Katolik is the nerve centre of the Diocese of Penang. Within these stately walls, not only are heavy-duty policies and decisions cast and the wheels of the diocese?s administration and finance secretariats churn, but it also serves as home to the Penang Diocesan Pastoral Institute (PDPI), the Penang Office for Human Development (POHD), the Penang Diocesan Youth Network (PDYN) and the Penang Campus Ministry Office (CMO).
A large hall on the ground floor serves as an ideal venue for sessions and programmes for the various diocesan ministries. The very first group to use the hall was the Faith & Light, a close-knit community of mentally-handicapped people and their families who meet at least once a month for sharing, formation and a good time. The ground floor hall rocks to many different beats - meaningfully serious when PDPI conducts courses and seminars, passionately heated when POHD holds social-awareness gatherings and hip and happening when PDYN youth sessions are in full swing.
Also located on the ground floor is a resource room where books, audio-visual aids and reference materials are stored for staff use, a store room where materials and resources for programmes are kept and a store room for POHD's medical clinic project.
The Bishop's office is located on the first floor, together with the administrative and finance secretariats. Located on the same floor are the offices of the Procurator and the Chancellor, as well as the Chancery. There is also a conference room and a pantry.
The second floor is a perennial hive of activity as this is where a varied assortment of PDPI, POHD, PDYN and CMO's programmes, projects and sessions are germinated, incubated and carried out to fruition. The four offices share the open floor plan on this floor. Also located on the second floor is a fully-equipped audio-visual room that can seat 30, a conference room that can seat 20, a stationery room and a pantry.
The third floor houses the archives of the diocese.
