DIOCESE OF PENANG
(Guidelines)
1. WHAT IS THE DIOCESAN PASTORAL TEAM?
The DPT is a facilitating team appointed by the bishop to assist and collaborate with the bishop in providing vision and direction for nurturing the faith, the pastoral life and the activities of the People of God according to the Diocesan Pastoral Thrust and in the spirit of PMPC III. The DPT fulfills its mission through prayer, study, reflection and dialogue. It is a channel of communication between the bishop and the Presbyterium and convenes monthly.
2. MEMBERSHIP OF THE DIOCESAN PASTORAL TEAM
The DPT is composed of members of the laity, religious and Clergy, who are appointed at the discretion of the
Bishop, for a term of 3 years.
3. WHAT DOES THE DIOCESAN PASTORAL TEAM DO?
A key responsibility of the DPT is to provide a communication link on the Diocesan Pastoral Thrust between the Bishop and the Priests, and individual Parish Pastoral Councils and Parish Animating Teams. It strives to discern, articulate, facilitate, and realize the Diocesan Pastoral Thrust with every parish in the spirit of PMPC III.
As and when there is a need, the DPT members may be sent to parishes or may be invited by any parish priest or groups.
This guideline comes into effect on the 1st of January 2008.
