August 27 , 2009 ALOR SETAR : The Vineyard Sisters of the Church of St Michael celebrated their third anniversary on Aug 15. The movement was spearheaded and motivated by Fr Jude Miranda, the Parish Priest, on Assumption Day, 2006. It started with 21 members and has since expanded. The event started with an Eucharistic Celebration specially prepared by the Vineyard sisters. In his sermon, Fr Jude Miranda, encouraged the ladies in the parish to discover their talent and find a ministry for themselves in the church, and the best way to do this is through the Vineyard sisters. November 30, 2008 ALOR SETAR: The Church of St Michael celebrated her belated Parish Feastday in the newly renovated air-conditioned church on Oct 31. This was also the second Special Parish Event. Bishop Antony Selvanayagam celebrated the Eucharist with Frs Jude Miranda, Stanley Antoni and Michael Dass concelebrating. A nine-day novena on the themes Service, Priority, Reconciliation, Unity, Love, Healing, Mission, Faithfulness, and Sincerity were held nightly prior to the feastday. Read More |

9 March 2008 ALOR SETAR: The Parish Animating Team (PAT) of the Church of St Michael organised the Basic AsIPA (Asian Institute of Pastoral Approach) Course for 30 leaders of the BECs and Chairpersons of the various Parish Service Teams. 21 October 2007 ALOR SETAR: St Michael’s parish had a triple celebration on Sept 28 — the Feast of St Michael the Archangel, the Sacrament of the Eucharist and Confirmation. Preparations for the parish feastday began with a novena, which was celebrated by different parish priests from other parishes. It was parish priest Fr Jude Miranda’s project in organising and extended his invitation to some priests from other churches to come and share their personal and spirit building talks in order to ensure that the parishioners of St Michael prepare themselves and are committed to welcome the event. The Eucharistic Mass was celebrated together with the opening ceremony of the grotto dedicated to our Lady of Lourdes and the first anniversary of the “Vineyard sisters”. The Vineyard Sisters was formed one year ago by the ladies' group of our parish who felt that they needed to do some charitable contribution to the church as well as to do the work of Christ just as Mary did. 13 May 2007 issue of The Herald LANGKAWI : The Catholic community on the island of Langkawi welcomed and celebrated Easter this year in a special way. This was because for the first time four catechumens were baptised at the Chapel of Ave Maris Stella. The Catholic community of Langkawi, though very small with 30 parishioners, welcomed the four new Catholic members into the family during Easter Mass celebrated by Fr Jude Miranda on Easter Day. Many travellers and holiday-makers, both local and international, had sought out the Chapel to join in the Easter celebration. Family members of the newly-baptised too had travelled all the way to Langkawi to witness and share this happy occasion. Newly baptised Rowena Isabella Ngumbang, who has been attending Mass regularly, feels happy and honoured to receive faith, hope and love from the Lord and the community around her. The Mass was presided over by the parish priest Fr Jude Miranda. This year the Polis Di Raja Malaysia celebrated their 200th anniversary with the vision “Ke Arah Terbilang Di Dunia.” They came smartly dressed in their police uniforms from all Christian denominations and were joined together as one in Christ Jesus.
