16 December 2007 Children receive the Eucharist for the first time PERMATANG TINGGI: Thirty-two children of the Church of the Holy Name of Mary received the Sacrament of the Eucharist on Nov 18. The children comprised 22 from the Mandarin-speaking section and 10 from the Tamil-speaking group. The Mandarin-speaking children received the Holy Eucharist from Fr Simon CDD at the 8.30am Mass. The children were all dressed in white with beautiful veils which were sewn by the catechetical group teachers. All felt excited and happy as from now on they can join their parents to receive the Lord into their hearts during Mass. Majorie Ong, who was only baptised the day before, said, “I have waited long for this day and I always prayed hard. It was so meaningful to me as my Godma took the trouble to come all the way from Sarawak just to witness the special occasion. I will never forget it.” Right after the Mass, a simple certificate presentation ceremony was held in the classroom followed by fellowship and sharing. — By Thomas |
