19 October 2008 KAMPAR: Migrant Sunday was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart on Sept 28. The day before, many of the migrants spent the night at the parish hall. After reciting the Rosary, they tucked into Indonesian food, prepared by one of the members. After Mass on Sept 28, 24 migrants together with a few members of the Love squad and PHDC members went on a trip to Sg Klah Hot Water Springs. It was an enjoyable trip for them as they swam, played games and had a really relaxing day. To quote one of them on the journey back, “Today is such a change from our usual routine of work, work, work. We really enjoyed the day and thank you.” It was the same feeling with the others. 27 July 2008 KAMPAR: June 20 saw some 1,300 people converge on the grounds of the Church of the Sacred Heart (SHC) to celebrate the centenary of the parish. All lighted up, the church and grounds looked almost like a ‘fairy-land’! The Novena Masses started on June 12 and priests from the various parishes in the diocese and from the seminary in Penang celebrated Mass on each of the eight days with the general theme Deepening our Discipleship through the Word. 11 November 2007 KAMPAR: The Church of the Sacred Heart recently held a camp for catechism children aged 7-12. About 30 students attended this daycamp organised by the catechetical team. The day began with the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by parish priest Fr Victor Louis. After Mass, the children had breakfast followed by prayer and action songs led by Fr Victor. There were games and activities after that. The youths from the parishes were also on hand to give a helping hand. The camp ended at 4.00pm with tea. Deacon Dominic Santhiyagu’s ordination not only woke up the parish but news of his ordination was published in the local press a week before the celebration. Since young, he had been active at the parish of the Sacred Heart Church. He was also involved in the Youth movement in his parish and also in the district. KAMPAR: The small town of Kampar, usually laid back and often dubbed \'a sleepy hollow\' was treated to the wonderful witnessing of 1,200 Catholics who walked in a candlelight procession round the town and back to the church. Spectators lined the streets to watch this spectacular witnessing to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Sacrament.
