PENANG DIOCESAN PASTORAL SECRETARIAT (PDPS)

The Penang Diocesan Pastoral Secretariat is the secretariat office to the Diocesan Diocesan Pastoral Team (DPT). It assist DPT in providing adult faith formation opportunities to enable them to embrace their baptismal call to participate fully in the life of the Church, and fulfil their vocation of bringing Christ to the world.

Vision
A community of believers rooted in personal prayer and public worship embracing the way of Life of Jesus Christ.

Mission
The Penang Diocese Pastoral Secretariat aims to provide lay men and women a holistic process of spiritual, theological and personal growth. It is hoped that through the formation programs and courses, skilled and confident laity formed in community may emerge to serve the Diocese.

Rationale
In addition to the formation which is common for all Christians, many forms of the apostolate require a specific and particular formation as well, since the Laity share in their own way in the mission of the Church, their formation takes its special flavour from the distinctively secular quality of the lay state and from its own form of spirituality. Since formation cannot consist in merely theoretical instruction the laity should learn how to view, judge, and do all things in the light of faith as well as to develop and improve themselves and others through action, thereby entering into the energetic service of the Church.
