Despite the economic downturn the country experience this year, it seems that many people had not turn their back in helping
their unfortunate brothers and sisters. The Penang Diocesan Lenten Campaign 2009 recorded their highest collection ever in six years.
The total amount collected was RM392,348.27, an increase of 33.47% over the previous year.
The Lenten Campaign began on the first week of Lent, with the theme ‘Don’t turn your back’. Lots of materials were provided by the Diocese, Trainings were provided for Love Squad and Parish Human Development Committee (PHDC) members to run the campaign..
The Love Squad and PHDC members, with support from their parish priests, put in a lot of effort and commitment to made the campaign successful, as the total amount collected had surpassed the Board’s expectation.
Therefore, the Board of the Penang Diocesan Lenten Campaign would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Love Squad members, PHDC members, and parish priests of the Penang Diocese for their unfailing support. towards the campaign. Much gratitude also goes to all donors who gave meaning to not turning their back on their less unfortunate brothers and sisters.
