BUKIT MERTAJAM: The annual feast of St Anne will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26. Novena Masses to St Anne will be celebrated from Friday, July 18 to Sunday July 27.

The theme for this year is Deepening Our Discipleship Through the Word of God. Pamphlets on St Anne's Annual Novena & Feast Day Celebrations have been dispatched to various parishes in Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia and Singapore. Devotees of St Anne and pilgrims can obtain the pamphlets from their own parish.

About 50,000 - 80,000 pilgrims are expected to converge on the sanctuary ground for the actual feast of St Anne on 26 July, (the climax of the celebrations) which falls on a Saturday this year — a rare phenomenon.

The celebrations will kickoff with a flag raising ceremony on Thursday, July 17 followed by Mass for the volunteers.
The highlight of the celebrations will be the visit of the Apostolic Delegate, His Grace, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, who will be celebrating the  feastday Mass on Saturday, July 26 at 8.30 pm
This will be an open-air Mass. A stage will be erected specially for the purpose. Those who attend the Mass will receive the Apostolic Blessing from him. His Grace will also be leading the procession of the statue of St Anne.
A special noteworthy project for this year’s St Anne’s novena and feast day celebrations is the sale of the New Prayer Book. A portion of the proceeds will go to aid the Myanmar cyclone victims and to assist in the rebuilding / reconstructing of the devastated country of Myanmar.

The 15, 000 copies are fully sponsored. Each book costs RM5 and the proceeds  from the sale will go to
(a) Mission in Myanmar (RM4) which will be disbursed through the Apostolic  Nunciature to the Church in Myanmar.
(b) The St Anne’s Dialysis Centre, Bukit Mertajam (RM1)

Pilgrims are strongly encouraged to purchase the prayer books, either for themselves, or as gifts for their friends.

It is hoped that all pilgrims and devotees of St Anne who attend the St Anne’s novena and feastday celebrations will get to deepen their discipleship through the Word of God.
