BUTTERWORTH: The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrated Migrant Sunday recently with a Communion Service.

The service themed Sharing our Gifts as Persons . . . Living our Lives in Harmony was  led by Deacon Francis Andrew.

Deacon Francis Andrew in his homily touched on the important elements of respect and love for foreigners instead of exploiting them. He added that we need to teach the children from young to treat their maids as human beings for “they have left their families and country to care for our children”.

The coordinator of the parish Foreign Workers Support Committee and Migrant Workers Support Center, Ms Ruth Mary Paul thanked Mr Balakrishnan of the Malaysian Hindu Sangam (Butterworth branch), the Buddhist Temple Committee of Butterworth and Lunas and the parish volunteers for their invaluable contribution towards the ministry not forgetting the silent workers and donors whom she referred to as ‘angels without wings’.

The celebration also coincided with the second anniversary of Migrant Workers Support Centre.  (picture shows representatives cutting the cake.)
