SITIAWAN: Parishioners of the Church of St Francis de Sales held their Parish Assembly on Nov 12 and 13. In the opening address, Parish priest, Fr Arulnathan Joseph, said although he had been in this parish only for a very short period, he found the achievement for the period satisfactory.
However, he went on, owing to poor leadership, certain areas were slow to progress. He hoped that after this assembly, the situation of the parish will improve. Fr Arul stressed that there should be complete cooperation and awareness among all the various language speaking ministries in order to grow as a community.
Fr Joe Stephen stressed on the six strategies for the year 2009. He stated there should be more awareness on Discipleship and that the three parish events and the two BEC events be based on spirituality and social development. There should also be more dialogue with the parish priest and the Parish Pastoral Council. Efforts must be made to send representatives for formation and training programmes held in Central Perak.
The group leaders then presented their reports and highlighted some of the events and activities held for the year 2008. This was followed by reports from the various organisations in the parish.
At the end of the day, Fr Arulnathan thanked everyone and hoped that all discussions put forward for the spiritual and social events for the year 2009 will help the parisioners in their faith and assist them to come together as a family.
