Family Day at Balik Pulau parish

BALIK PULAU: It was a joyous occasion on Sept 6 at the parish of the Holy Name of Jesus as it celebrated the parish Family Day event.

 

The four-day event began with talks on family life followed by Mass. The main topic for the talk was about family life and drug abuse. An officer from the Anti-Dadah agency gave an illuminating insight on how drug abuse can cause a family to break up and the importance of a good family relationship which can prevent a person from getting involved in such activities. The talk was very interesting and gave a lot of awareness to the small community here in Balik Pulau.

 

On Saturday, sunset Mass and benediction in two languages was celebrated by Fr Henry Rajoo followed by special blessings for all the families. On Sunday, Mass was celebrated in two languages followed by lunch and some community events.

 

Young and old participated in the activities. There were lucky draws, games, quiz and presentations from each BEC. There was storytelling, line dance, cutural dances, singing and games. There were as many as 53 Lucky draws with prizes mostly being sponsored by the parishioners. The grand prize for the lucky draw was a Nokia Handphone. Each family was given a chance at the lucky draw. It was a happy occasion and many came to share the joy of it together. — By Edwin & Adelyn
