\"SrSITIAWAN: It was a time of joy and celebration for both the IJ Sisters and the Parishioners of St. Francis de Sales on the occasion of Sister Annie Newman (pic) celebrating 60 years in religious life.

The celebration took place on Dec 7 at the IJ Convent, with a Eucharistic celebration.

Sr Annie joined the Novitiate in 1945 and received the gift to pray in LOVE that opened up a new perspective in her missionary life. She loved and served her mission when she was a teacher and also Principal in the Kota and Klian Pau Convents, Taiping, Perak. As any ordinary young person she loved concerts and operettas and these were the highlights of her life that she thoroughly enjoyed and cherished.

Besides serving in schools, she was a Boarding Mistress for about 50-60 girls from different age groups of all races. She really loved and cared for each and every one of them with all her heart. She was also fully involved as a choir mistress and took an active part in preparing the Liturgy for years at the Church of St Louis, Taiping.

Now, as she enjoys her retirement days, she continues her devout prayer life and never fails to wake up early to go for her regular morning walks just as Jesus, mentioned in the bible as one who `loved going up the mountain in the early hours to pray.\' She believes in the ONE whom she has surrendered her life to.

These are indeed tremendous achievements for Sr Annie who has weathered many challenging obstacles and missions in her religious life. She is a Sister many describe as having an undeniably big heart to care and give endlessly. Her simple lifestyle and always being there in times of need is really appreciated and looked up upon.

Fr Nelson in his speech confirmed that Sr Annie\'s life is the best form of vocation for the young to emulate. He also thanked her for her motherly care and for all the valuable contribution for the growth of the parish and community especially in helping the Liturgical Team and the Parish Pastoral Council until today.

After the Eucharistic celebration, Sr. Willie Fernandez on behalf of the IJ Sisters expressed her gratitude to the Clergy and the lay collaborators for their presence and making the occasion a great success.
