BUKIT MERTAJAM: The St Anne’s Church Faith Sharers had a day of reflection and session on making faith sharing come alive through creative Catechetical Pedagogy facilitated by Lucille Dass.

The faith sharers reflected on their role as faith educators/sharers and their R.E.A.L. (Respecting Encouraging, Affirming Loving) calling as catechists. The reflection sessions included affirming each other as faith sharers followed by a quiet period to reflect and A.S.K (Attitude, Skill, Knowledge).

Lucille encouraged all present to maintain a journal to record and evaluate their personal faith journey as this will help them to be in touch with their role as faith sharer.

She highlighted the contents of the catechetical pedagogy and reminded the catechests of the challenge to emulate God’s pedagogy in the person of Jesus Christ. Lucille stressed on the goal to make visible God’s love to the children at all times.

After lunch, the sessions continued on creative teaching and that involved the participants hands-on, and there  was laughter and screams of delight as they experimented with various creative teaching methods and activities, ie games, creative art and  Bible sharing. The sessions were examples of learning catechism by actions. The participants then experimented with songs and music as additional tools to impart their faith effectively to the children.
