SMC confirmands vow to be witnesses of Christ |

IPOH: Forty-two youths at St Michael's Church received the gift of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sept 16, drawing them more deeply into the life of the Catholic Church.
The youths, comprising 33 Chinese-speaking and nine English-speaking confirmands, had earlier undergone spiritual preparation through a special Confirmation camp and also confession before receiving the character of this Sacrament, binding them as true witnesses of Christ.
In a bilingual Mass celebrated by Bishop Antony Selvanayagam and assisted by parish priest Fr Michael Cheah the youths renewed their Baptismal vows of faith with parents and godparents, in Mandarin and English. This was followed by the laying on of hands by the bishop, and Mr and Mrs Simon Phang, representing all godparents.
In his homily, Bishop Selva asked the confirmands to answer the question in their hearts as to who Jesus is to them.
