Our talents are for us to serve others |

SUNGAI PETANI: Don’t look at the gifts and talents outside of yourself and feel jealous of others! All of us are gifted differently by God. We should be thankful for our unique gifts, which Jesus is calling us to find, exhorted Fr Jude Miranda during his homily for the 45 First Holy Communicants and parishioners of Christ the King Church. He told them to find out what their gifts and talents are and use them to serve others.

Speaking on the Gospel from Matthew 25: 14-30 on the Parable of the Three Servants, Fr Jude Miranda said that we need to find out now what our talents are before it is too late. He said many people had died without ever discovering their gifts.
“These gifts are not meant to be used for our own benefit only, but also to serve the people around us,” he stressed.
Fr Jude added further that the more we used our gifts to serve others, the more we will be blessed with greater talents and gifts so that we become more and more like Jesus.
He said it was urgent that everyone examined their lives to ensure that God was happy with the way they were living, using their gifts to serve others because at the end of our lives, we will be judged accordingly.
“Do we want God to say “Well done, you good and faithful servant! Come on in and share my happiness!” or “You wicked and lazy servant — throw him outside in the darkness; there he will cry and gnash his teeth.”
Fr Jude concluded by throwing a question to everyone, “Which do you want God to say to you?”
Melissa Lim, representing the First Communicants, thanked the Parish Priest, Fr Michael Dass and also Fr Jude, teachers and parents. The First Holy Communicants promised to love Jesus always.
