IPOH: The Sunday School Children of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (OMPH) parish paid tribute to their parents, with a Parents’ Day Mass on May 16.

It was an occasion for celebrating as well as thanking the parents for their love and sacrifices for the family. Most of the Liturgy for the Mass was animated by the children, and the Children’s Choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns.

“It is not easy being parents…” Fr Eugene Fernandez said in his sermon, adding that children should acknowledge this and not take them (parents) for granted. Quoting the words of Christ (from John’s Gospel) “I chose you”, Fr Eugene said that this is a divine commission — God has chosen us, to be (His) witnesses to the truth.

The Thanksgiving Hymn Our Prayer was dedicated to all parents present. Fr Eugene later gave a special blessing for the parents, and each of them was given a rose as they exited the church. —
