SITIAWAN : The St Francis de Sales (SFDS) prayer group celebrated its 30th anniversary on Sept 26.

The SYLS prayer group was formed by IJ Sr Marie Angels.

The celebration commenced with praise and worship in English and Bahasa. The theme for the day was Be In Communion and this was the message offered to the congregation.

The facilitator for the day was Paul Siau from the prayer group of the Church of St Ignatius in Petaling Jaya. The talk was attended by about 90 participants.

Siau set the evening in motion with the theme Communion With God. Communion with God means the need to restore our relationship with God, to have a close rapport with God. For this he said that our lifestyle has to be changed. The social circle needs to be amended and adjusted. We must look into how our time is spent. The need to communicate with God in prayer is very important. In his talk later in the evening, Communion With Man, he said that all things are created by God. All things that God created are for the good of His people. God also knows the needs of the prayer groups. Members of the prayer group must share all the goodness that the Lord has provided for us. When we are in communion with man, we are in union with our fellow separated brethren. Our roots are the same. We must be able to share the sufferings and the needs of the people. It may be difficult, but that is the way.

In conclusion Siau said that being in communion with God and man is like a cross, vertical and horizontal. This cross is encircled with love, sacrifice and prayer. In this way, we are one in communion.

General healing prayers and testimonies followed. At the end of the day the leader of the core team thanked all those who made the effort to attend the session and fellowship.

He appealed for more people to join in the regular praise and worship. Hopefully they would carry the message and keep in mind the words ‘We will come, we will experience, we will go back with open heart and come back as the Spirit may lead us.’

The celebration concluded with a cake cutting ceremony and fellowship to commemorate the occasion. — By DMC Durairaj
