IPOH: The exhibition on St Paul was launched on Saturday, May 30 after the Pentecost Vigil Mass by Parish Priest of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes (OLOL) Fr Bernard Paul. This exhibition was about St Paul, His Missions, His Journeys and His Messages.

Edwin Gomez, the Chairperson of the Bible Ministry, explained that this exhibition marks the culmination of a series of programmes undertaken by OLOL Bible Ministry to commemorate the Jubilee Year of St Paul from June 28, 2008 to June 29, 2009 as declared by Pope Benedict XVI to mark the bimillenary of St Paul’s birth. St Paul was born in AD. 8.

These were some of the programmes undertaken by the OLOL Bible Ministry. Firstly, on Jan 25, 2008, Sr Bernie Dianzon FSP from the Philippines, gave a talk on St Paul based on Ethics of Responsibility. This was followed by a talk on the Spirituality of St Paul in both English and Tamil by Fr Peter Abir from India on Dec 2, 2008.

Since early 2008 Mr Pushpernathan had been conducting monthly sessions on the various aspects of the Bible including St Paul’s Letters. Starting from September 2008 Bruno Pereira, the Resource Coordinator at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute Kuala Lumpur, has been conducting a series of sessions on St Paul’s Letters.

The exhibition explained St Paul’s life and his Missionary Journeys. Paul’s name was recognized as ‘Paulo’ which means ‘little’ in Greek. St Paul’s letters give different messages themed such as consolation, peace, transformation, love, work, unity, fullness, children and humility. Each and every message given by St Paul has a great scriptural meaning behind it.

One parishioner, Miss Lucy, felt that this exhibition on St Paul has deepened her understanding of St Paul’s life, — His Journey, His Missions and Messages. The Members of the OLOL Bible Ministry felt that it was a unique exhibition as it was in three languages to cater for English, Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia speaking parishioners. In addition, the invitation to view the exhibition on St Paul was sent to all parishes in Ipoh and the neighbouring towns.

The members of OLOL Bible Ministry were also selling books on St Paul. In conjunction with the Exhibition on The life St Paul was screened daily. This exhibition on St Paul has definitely created a deeper understanding of the apostle. —
