SITIAWAN: St Anne’s Chapel, which was in a dilapidated condition and not used for many years, has now been repaired, renovated and painted.
Bishop Antony Selvanayagam blessed the chapel on July 22. The event began with Bishop Selva cutting the ribbon at the entrance while a hymn in Tamil was sung. The bishop explained that the rite of Blessing symbolises our baptism. He asked the congregation to be attentive to the beautiful Prayer of Blessing.
Touching on the day’s reading, Bishop Selva said that it was a gentle reminder to listen and spend time with God. A Chapel/Church is a place for people who believe in God and who come together to listen to him. This is a challenge today for us to allow the Word of God to be a priority in our lives.
At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, the chairperson thanked Bishop Selva for gracing the occasion. He also thanked parish priest Fr Nelson Joseph for his keen and untiring interest in the repairing and renovation of the Chapel as well as the community for their support.Bishop Selva encouraged the parishioners to visit the Chapel often and to support the community there.
Everyone then adjourned for fellowship and a sumptuous meal.
