BATU GAJAH:� Parishioners of the Church of St Joseph celebrated the Children�s Christmas Party at their respective BECs.
Zone 6 gathered their members at the Church hall because no home could accommodate the 80 members. Their guest of honour was their parish priest, Fr Robin Andrews who came and joined them in their celebration.
With the theme for their gathering being Placing CHRIST back into CHRISTmas, Fr Robin informed all present that the reason for celebrating Christmas was because of the birth of our Saviour but many nowadays are so caught up with the commercial aspect of Christmas that we have taken the birth of Christ for granted.
At shopping malls, most of the Christmas carols played do not have any lyrics with the reference to Christ or Mary. So for this year, the Church will not be putting up the Christmas tree but emphasis will be on the crib.
Even the hall was decorated with a crib and a miniature Christmas tree was placed below the crib signifying the importance of the birth of Christ.
The day started with the singing of carols, followed by a pot-luck dinner and then there were games for all the age groups. The highlight of the evening was the exchanging of presents without the presence of Santa Claus. Each person was requested to bring a gift and place it at the bottom of the crib. Before the end of the day, the gifts were distributed and each person left with a gift from another member of their BEC. � By Gordon Hendricks
