We must always be prepared to be with Jesus

BATU GAJAH: The Feast of Christ the King was somewhat different for 24 children from the parish of St Joseph. It was not just an ordinary Sunday Mass for them. It was indeed something unique as the whole parish had come to encourage these children on their journey in their faith formation. Joining them were their parents, relatives and friends.

Earlier in the week, these children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation during their FHC camp, which was conducted by Fr Fabian Dicom. Upon receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the children experienced a joy which was difficult to explain; they felt that God was so close to them and that their hearts were lighter as they had confessed all their wrong doings to Him. Knowing that they had been forgiven by their merciful Lord made them happy.

In his homily, Fr Robin Andrews, the parish priest, explained the three important aspects of the Gospel to these children; firstly where Jesus says that His kingdom is not here on earth, but in Heaven and we must be always prepared to be with Him. Secondly, we must love as Jesus was loving to all, and for these children, they should be loving and obedient to their parents, family members, friends and relatives. And lastly, they must be ever ready to be forgiving to those who have hurt them, just as Jesus was.

During communion, proud parents were seen capturing this special celebration on their cameras as it was an event which is celebrated only once in the lifetime of their children. The day ended with light refreshments being served to the children, parents and relatives.
