Women’s group formed at the Church of St Michael, Alor Setar
ALOR SETAR: St Michael’s parish celebrated the feast of Assumption with an evening Mass and the launch of the church's very first women's group called The Vineyard Sisters.
Fr Jude Miranda who celebrated the Mass congratulated the women who had enthusiastically initiated the formation of the group, and had pledged to take as their model Mother Mary herself, the handmaid of our Lord.
At the inaugural meeting held on August 13, the group managed to get 21 members from the three language groups of the parish. They chose 2 Cor. 9:8 as their guide: And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.
Mrs Mary Arokiam, the chairperson, commented that the group's main objective is to unite the women of the three language groups and to be one in spirit, mind and purpose.
The activities planned include: spiritual, outreaching and, enrichment and recreation. Fr Jude Miranda officiated at the meaningful ribbon-cutting ceremony at the gate to the vineyard.
